Granny Jackson's Tartan Tour 2008

01/01/1970

Granny Jackson's Tartan Tour has commenced! Two weeks ago we attended the Blackford Highland Games in Perthshire and the Carrick Lowland Gathering in Girvan, Ayrshire then the following week we were at Cornhill Highland Games in Aberdeenshire, then Ardrossan Highland Games in Ayrshire. The sun shone for us an all these days, with Blackford Games having the hottest weather to date and mid afternoon in Girvan the heavens opened up and we got a bit wet! It was good seeing some familiar faces and previous customers from last year, with a special mention to Annie from Buckie District Pipe Band! Last Saturday we attended the Bearsden Milngavie Highland Games which last year attracted around 10,000 visitorsthis year just as many people turned out for this spectacular event - and only second to the Cowal Gathering in Dunoon! On Sunday, we'll be travelled up to Hazelhead Park in Aberdeen for the City's annual Highland Games. The Ceres Games are an amazing wee Games to visit - last year the Cheiftain was Sir Menzies Campbell MP. In fact this is the oldest Highland Games in the World with its roots going back to the Robert the Bruce's win at the Battle of Bannockburn. Ceres Games take place on Saturday 28th June near Cupar. The following day we'll be back home in Clydesdale for the Clyde Valley Highland Games in Crossford, nr Lanark. At the start of July, we'll be at Kenmore and Cupar for their Highland Games - again worth going to see them like all the others. Another new event for 2008 is the Braveheart Games in Fort William. Hope to see you there!
