Straidhavern Primary is located approximately 5 minutes drive away from both Belfast International Airport and RAF Aldergrove and it is the closest school to the base. Many of our pupils live on Aldergrove base and parents and children love the family atmosphere that our school provides. We never have more than 125 pupils and each child is known and feels valued. Straidhavern school welcomes children of any religion or none. We submitted a development proposal to become a Controlled Integrated school and have been working hard over the past 18 months to further develop our ethos to be as inclusive as possible. Even though the Education Minister turned down our proposal, we will continue to deliver an education that is integrated in its outlook and that welomes all colours and creeds. Straidhavern school is in a lovely rural location, off the main road and surrounded by grass and trees. There is ample playground space with permanent playground games marked on the tarmac surface as well as grass for use for football and summer games. We have an active PTA that parents are encouraged to join. We have two small buses fitted with seatbelts and the same two drivers each day. Children are transported safely and with a friendly face each day! Straidhavern Primary School has an excellent reputation for high quality pastoral care and we have incorporated the best of practice into our provision.
