Business profile
After years of dreaming about running their own farm, Richard and Clare Aldis have become the National Trust’s latest share farmers – at Hardwick Park Farm on the National Trust’s Hardwick Estate in Derbyshire Within the CSS agreement, we at Hardwick Park Farm are restoring the historic landscape of Hardwick Park though reversion of arable land to grass, extensive grazing and the removal of inappropriate fence lines We have traditional and rare breeds of cattle and sheep in the forms of Longhorn Cattle and Whitefaced Woodland Sheep, along with Pure Hereford Cows and around 500 commercial ewes are currently a feature in the open parkland Meat sales have taken off in a big way – people who’ve tasted Hardwick lamb or beef at the local pub or at Hardwick Hall are keen to buy some to take home and so far, we have sold out of meat on every weekend they’ve been open for sales
