First Aid at Work (3 days)
Course DescriptionThis First Aid at Work Course is designed to train individuals and company staff that require HSE Approved Training. This course covers all the required First Aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not breathing normally, is unconscious or bleeding, ill or injured prior to the arrival of the emergency services. Who is suitable for the Course?Nominated workplace first aiders or anyone wanting a comprehensive, interactive introduction to First Aid at Work.What will you learn?This course will give you a more in-depth knowledge of first aid and the confidence to apply this to an emergency in the workplace.Course Duration & Other InformationThis is a minimum of 18 hours split over 3 daysThere is a maximum of 12 candidates per courseCourses can be held on or off siteCourse contentFirst Aid at Work Regulations & RulesFears of First Aid, Barriers & Initial AssessmentUnconscious Casualty, Breathing & Recovery PositionThe Heart, Sudden Cardiac Arrest and CPR.  Includes 1 rescuer CPR, chest only compressions and CPR handover to a second rescuerAdult Choking, Conscious & UnconsciousSerious Bleeding ManagementShockSpinal Injury ManagementBreaks & FracturesBurns & ScaldsHead InjuriesPoisoningTemperature Related IllnessesEye InjuriesBites & StingsCrush Injuries & Chest InjuriesElectrical InjuriesHypoxiaDiabetesAnaphylatic ShockHeart Attacks/AnginaStrokesFaintingAsthma & Respiratory problems, including HyperventilatingAssessment & CertificationAfter completing written and practical assessments, successful candidates will recieve an HSE approved certificate which is valid for 3 years.  Students will also recieve their own manuals.
