I will also proof the text for inconsistencies in content and format, ensuring character names and plot are consistent and flow well for readability: all done whilst being very careful not to suggest changes, which may affect your manuscript's style and voice. For publishers I will follow whatever brief I am given, ensuring I correct all errors and inconsistencies whilst causing minimal effect on the layout of the text to reduce the overall cost of changes before publication.
