PartnerKirsty is a Partner in the Divorce & Family Law team. Kirsty has experience in all areas of family law and represents clients throughout Scotland. She has practiced family law exclusively since 2007, with experience in both the Sheriff Courts and the Court of Session. Despite her litigation experience, she is committed to, and enthusiastic about, resolving disputes away from the court setting, wherever possible. Kirsty is a qualified collaborative lawyer and has a reputation for building good relationships with clients, solicitors and other professional advisors. Typically, she deals with high value cases including those involving complex business and farming disputes arising on the breakdown of marriage or cohabitation. Many of her cases have involved international and cross border aspects of family disputes about movements of children and cross border jurisdictional matters. Lesley is known for offering a highly responsive and supportive approach focussed upon helping her clients secure the optimum outcome based on a clear understanding of their own particular circumstances. Caroline Carr Caroline Carr
Chair, PartnerCaroline is a Partner in our well-respected employment law team. With 25 years of experience specialising in a wide range of advisory and contentious employment law matters, she is well known and highly sought after by clients Caroline has been a Partner in BTO since 2000 and has performed senior internal roles for many years, whilst successfully leading the firm’s highly regarded Employment Law team. In April 2024, Caroline was elected by her fellow partners to the role of the Chair of BTO. She retains a client facing role in our Employment Law team. whilst also undertaking firmwide leadership responsibilities as BTO’s Chair. Caroline will, with the Management Board, play an important role in shaping the firm’s strategic direction over the coming years. Caroline has been ranked as an employment lawyer in Chambers UK for almost two decades. She is also one of a handful of employment lawyers who has been externally accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Employment Law for over 20 years.
Dawn Robertson Dawn Robertson
PartnerDawn is a Partner in our Employment Law team. She works with business owners, directors and managers to support them in strategic planning, policy development, workforce management, disputes, compliance and contractual employment matters. Dawn services clients throughout Scotland and more widely across the UK as a result of an extensive high quality network. She is also general counsel for a New York legal firm. Dawn also provide high quality, discrete, practical advice to often high profile executives and employees in connection with protected conversations and Settlement Agreements, employment disputes and restrictive covenants. She is used to working on highly sensitive matters which involve the utmost discretion. She often works with her colleague Lynn Richmond on this type of work where Lynn provides expert input on reputation management and protection. Dawn has significant experience and expertise in advising employers across a range of issues, including capability/performance, restructuring, redundancy, disciplinary and grievance matters and TUPE. She appears regularly in tribunals and has also appeared before the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT).

He is one of the most experienced dispute resolution solicitors practising in Scotland, with over 40 years of experience and he has been a Solicitor Advocate for 26 years, appearing regularly in court against senior and junior counsel. He oversees a team with broad sector specialisms including media, retail and technology. The vast range of litigation Paul has handled during his long career includes judicial reviews, two international arbitrations, together with related Court of Session appeals, many complex and high value company and shareholder disputes, sometimes involving multiple jurisdictions, and emergency litigation, including interdict (injunction) applications as well as “Dawn Raids”.
