Reads Nursery is a small family-run business now in its 6th generation. We started as a small market garden in 1841 near Attleborough in Norfolk, moving around the county via Brundall and Catfield to Thundersleigh in Essex, back up to Deopham in the 1960's, past Loddon and we are now based at Bungay in Suffolk where we have been for a mere 9 months! We take great pride in propagating and growing the majority of our trees and plants ourselves where possible,training the fruit into espaliers and other shapes.A few trees are grown in conjunction with some of the best nurserymen in the country where the cultural conditions / soils are better suited to certain trees. The methods we use are sometimes old-fashioned and laborious - our fruit trees and Magnolias, for example, are grafted, a lengthy process.
