Built in 1840, this Grade II listed Victorian 'Gentleman's residence' is elegant, spacious and beautifully equipped, offering comfort and peace. Merlewood has many original features and extensive renovations have taken place in recent years. As the current owner, I am attempting to restore more of the character that has been lost by neglect or 'well intentioned' improvements. The house at one point had seven bedrooms but work has taken place to try and restore it to its original plan of four, first floor bedrooms, which are spacious and all en-suite. The large garden is a work-in-progress, having been completely neglected for the last fifteen years and I suspect it will take a few years to develop to its full, potential glory.
