Are you a woodwind, brass or tuned percussion player - if so come and join Newark & Sherwood Concert Band founded about 15 years ago. We have approximately 40 members who attend rehearsals every Tuesday evening. We are a friendly bunch of amateur musicians and the emphasis is very much on FUN. However, we are all Grade 5 standard and above, with several of our members being professionals/Diploma level, so we perform to a high standard. Your age is immaterial; we have members who are still at school, right through to those who have retired. Our Musical Director, Ewan Robson is an outstanding musician and ex-RAF musician who keeps us on our toes and makes sure our audiences aren't disappointed. We have several concerts booked throughout the year; playing at inside and outside venues (weather permitting)! Our music library contains everything from traditional military marches to film themes. We have a large selection of classical pieces as well as some more contemporary tunes.
