St Mary's Church gets us on our knees
St Mary's Church in Withersfied proved a battle over and beyond the call of duty. Faced with scale, mould and hundreds of years of soiling was one thing but the real headache was scores of years of polish and wax build up which had become a part of the stone itself - and just as hard. Floundering with machinery of every description, the decision was made to do a manual chemical scrape. Each and every mosaic tile was carefully stripped and cleaned by hand, having us literally on our hands and knees for 9 hours a day for 3 days. But what a result! As the curator of the church said "you will rewarded on the other side"
