Acupuncture Insertion of fine hair like needles at selected points to enhance well being. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in China. I have been practising for over 20 years and have a special interest in womens health. fertilty issues, IVF support and menopausal conditions. Acupuncture is also highly effective for migraines, back pain, arthritic conditions, anxiety, tiredness and many other conditions. Electro acupuncture This involves acupuncture treatment where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. This can be used for painful conditions to augment the effect of the treatment. It is also useful in areas of paralysis or diminished function, where a part of the body is being stimulated. Treatment is very gentle (it sounds a lot worse than it actually is!). It is very similar to a tens machine which many women are familar with in childbirth. Normally a light tingling sensation is felt in the area being treated. Cupping An acupuncture session can include traditional Chinese cupping therapy. This can be very useful for pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being. It works very well for very painful conditions which won't shift with needles alone and also works wonders clearing stuck pathogens from the body. Moxa Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a penetrating herb. The herb is held near the body at specific points or areas to warm and strengthen blood flow and stimulate healing. It's painless and most people who feel the cold, love it! It's powerful, it can turn breech babies! Used appropriately, it is a wonderful way to warm and energise.
