Maple Bank is a charming Edwardian 4 star guest house, situated in the village of Braithwaite, only 2 miles from Keswick. Originally built as a holiday home for the Dunlop family, and retaining many original features, it offers superb views across the Derwent Valley to Skiddaw and the Latrigg, which are visible from all rooms at the front of the property. Rooms to the rear overlook the garden and may present glimpses of the local wildlife, including roe deer and red squirrel.Each spacious room is ensuite, with TV, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Iron and board available on request. There are 5 double rooms, one twin and a family room. Outside there is a private car park and we have facilities for cycle storage and drying of outdoor clothing.The dining room is at the front of the house and provides a relaxing environment in which to enjoy our full Cumbrian breakfasts. For those with less hearty appetites we provide a range of cereals, fruit, freshly prepared fruit salad and yoghourt.There are several inns in Braithwaite that serve lunch and eveningmeals,all within easy walking distance of Maple Bank, which may relieve guests of the need to decide 'who's driving?' and the car parking is free!Coffee or tea is provided gratis in the evenings in the guests' lounge for those who wish to use it.At Maple Bank we are able to welcome children from 5 years old: we regret we have no facilities for younger children. We are also able to accommodate dogs by arrangement.Maple Bank is an ideal base from which to explore the local area, whether by car or on foot. Several of the nearby fells can be accessed from Braithwaite: Grizedale Pike and Force Crag Mine to name but two.
