Through various activities, we aim to help inspire a deeper interest in science education among secondary school students.BRICKSTONE BRINGS SCIENCE MASTER CLASS ON RENEWABLE ENERGY & FORENSIC SCIENCE TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA A United Kingdom based educational training organisation, Brickstone Education in partnership with some education providers in Nigeria is delivering a Science Master Class with focus on Renewable Energy and Forensic Science to secondary school students in Nigeria Brickstone has the focus of helping to inspire a deeper interest in science education among secondary school students. The Science Master Class will take off from Lagos State at Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Ikeja from 26th October, 2009. The Science Master Class aims to bring science to life for participating students who will have the opportunity to work on live Renewable Energy and Forensic Science Projects. Renewable Energy is energy generated from natural resources such as, sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat. The contribution of renewable energy to worldwide energy consumption has been increasing since 2006. In the foreseeable future, a huge proportion of global energy consumption would be from renewable energy sources. Forensic science is the application of a broad spectrum of sciences to answer questions of interest to a legal system. This may be in relation to a crime or a civil action. It is often shortened as forensics and fingerprinting evidence is one of the popular parts. The Science Master Class is being facilitated by Adetutu Alaka and Rachel Habgood. The facilitators are both Advanced Skilled Qualified teacher of science in the United Kingdom. They are professional trainers with the specialisation to teach across all science fields and have both successfully helped secondary school students from different parts of the world with varying backgrounds and abilities to develop their understanding of science as a life subject. Apart from the live projects that participants will work on at the Master Class, there are other benefits available to students and their schools. Participants are automatically entered into a competition to win a place on Global Science Master Class at the London Science Museum. There are up to 50 places on the Global Science Master Class. Also, schools with the highest number of participants at the Master Class will have the opportunity of receiving numerous science gadgets for their laboratories. The spokesperson for Brickstone Education, Felicia Edevbaro emphasised that one of the objectives of the organisation is to contribute to reducing the ratio of students to computers amongst 11 to 17 year olds in secondary schools.
