Unfinished business

01/01/1970

When we successfully get planning permission for folks, we nearly always bit a fond farewell to clients at that stage. Some stay with us to discharge the conditions imposed on the consents, some come back with amendments to the approved plans. But rarely do we get the chance to dust of the "posh clothes" to go to the topping out ceremony or the grand opening, leaving just a little sense of some unfinished business. It can never be said that we don't enjoy fizz and canapés and will always welcome the opportunity to see the fruits of our labour in the flesh. 2D plans are so dull in comparison! The realisation that this was the case hit us when we got the opportunity to see around one of our listed barn conversions. Peter and Chris are still working on one of the barns in the courtyard, but just look at the wonderful creation they have brought to life! The barn is light, airy, full of character and every detail has been carefully considered by Peter and Chris, a far cry from the dereliction they found it in. The master suite is just breath taking, full of woodwork that you can't help but run your hand over. It wasn't hard to picture yourself in the cinema room with sweet (none of that salty stuff!) popcorn and the sound turned right up! The barn has been able to incorporate some great eco-friendly features, even in a listed building. The solar gain from the full height windows in the breakfast area is awesome, a really cosy space from which to write planning statements we would say! And to hear how quietly the air source heat pump works! Amazing stuff. Hats off to Peter and Chris for a job well done, having battled long and hard to get the residential conversion permission! If we weren't saving for an Airstream, this would be the place to live and work from!
