FAQs
What’s the difference between a fixed and variable tariff?
Fixed tariff Your unit rates and standing charges remain fixed for a predefined period of time. This is typically for a year. This doesn’t mean the amount you’ll pay is fixed – it depends on the amount of energy you use. Fixed energy tariffs are available to customers who take energy and two other eligible services with us.* Variable tariff The cost you pay for your energy can go up and down in line with wholesale costs. We’ll always give you 30 days’ notice of any price changes.
Is utility warehouse actually cheaper?
The Utility Warehouse Fixed Saver 4 tariff is on average 8% cheaper than the Price Cap, which if you judge it in isolation (from the other products you need to get it) makes it the cheapest switchable fix on the market, and it even undercuts the cheapest existing customer fixes being offered.
