The Portsmouth Arms Hotel is a 500 yr old rustic coaching inn set deep in the heart of the beautiful Taw Valley. A unique pub we offer bed & breakfast (en-suite rooms) at reasonable rates. Real ale from west country breweries, fine wines etc. Our menu consists of "proper food" (we are most definately NOT a gastro pub !!!!!) Our steaks are 21 day matured from R.D. Johns own herd of Devon Ruby Reds. The cod comes in fresh from Brixham, the fish & chips is very popular and should be tried! Vegetarian and Gluten Free options always available. Sausages and Pork come from our mate Harry`s hand reared pigs ( just up the road at Lillcott Farm) Old Peter uses the redundant ostrich tunnels to grow some of the vegetables we use. We have our own train station "Portsmouth Arms" on the Tarka Line between Exeter & Barnstaple and are part of the Rail Ale Trail.
