inspection & testing of your installation prior to hand over and ensuring that the installation is completely safe before being put into normal service, this is a given set of procedures broken down into steps which are to be followed and each step must be sucessfully passed in order to progress to the next step with NO exceptions, when an installation is nearing completion they may well be unforseen errors which have occured for various reasons, these could include.Mechanical damage to an accessory, which may leave access to an exposed conductor or even a Metal trunking lid causing a slight knick of a cable and possibly leaving a fault to earth through the trunking system, of course  the lid may seem to be seated properly although it may be holding a fault that cannot be seen, however if the initial verification procedure is adheared to then it WILL be shown not just as a fault on the wiring system as a whole but clearly identifiable on a circuit by circuit basis, which will give an definate indication of probable location. There are also other trades to consider and again safety of everyone concered with the project is at all times of paramount importance, hence the reason why dead testing is to be carried out on EVERY single aspect of the wiring system. As well a checking for safety of the system it is also important to realise that the installation must not only be safe, but also meet the  criteria for the installation, again ensuring the best of both worlds, in other words a safe installation, which will meet the demands and requests of the client and at the same time follow the strict guidlines of BS 7671 and that everything associated with the fixed wiring system is fit for purpose now, and for the future in its intended environment.
