Crown Thinning
Removing a small portion of secondary and small live branches will produce a uniform density of foliage around an evenly spaced branch structure, this is called Crown Thinning. Many people use crown thinning to allow extra light pass through the tree, reducing the wind resistance - as well as lessen the weight of any heavy branches. Crown thinning also includes crown cleaning which does not alter the overall shape or size of your tree.
