As an employee using VDUs at work or requiring prescription safety frames your employer may cover or contribute towards the cost of these. Under EU legislation, employees who use computers are entitled to an eye test when they first begin using VDUs and at regular intervals throughout their employment. Eye examinations are now provided free of charge by the NHS in Scotland to all UK residents.
