Great idea for a family break to the west country...
Discovering the charms of Cornwall During October half term my partner Sally, stepson Owen and I decided to venture west to Cornwall in one of the Katamarano motorhomes for a few days. We decided to travel during the evening to avoid the traffic. We left at around 7pm and after a short refreshment stop we arrived to Newquay on the north coast of Cornwall just after midnight. We parked up for the night just off the main road in a quiet 24 hour car park and got some welcome shut eye! The next morning we suitably refreshed and after a full English breakfast in the motorhome we set off for a stroll along Tolcarne and Towan beaches. We then wandered up into the bustling town of Newquay to explore the shops. During the afternoon we headed south and after about 40 minutes we arrived at East Crinnis Holiday Park. The campsite is on the south coast of Cornwall and is about 2 miles from the Eden Project and close to the pretty town of St Austell. We were welcomed by Dan and straight away we knew that we had made the right choice. The campsite was not overcrowded, well laid out and had great facilities. The shower block was clean and warm, there was also a communal are with a washing machine and dryer. There was also lots of local information, leaflets and maps so you could see the most of the area. During out two days at East Crinnis we visited the Eden Project. Owen, a friend of mine Rachel and I ventured on the longest zip wire in the UK that stretched across the top of the bio domes; amazing! The following day we walked along the South west coastal path to a beautiful village called Charlestown where the wonderful Poldark is filmed. On our returned we sat out and had a bite to eat and settled out bill with our host Dan. We had a brilliant time and the overall cost at the East Crinnis site for two adults and a teenager was just £30 in total for the two nights! We thought this was excellent value for money and all agreed it was a fabulous site. I can highly recommend it! All in all a fab few days on the Cornish coast.
