What is inhalation sedation? Inhalation sedation is a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen which you breath in through your nose via a nosepiece. This will have a relaxing effect, which will help you feel less anxious, slightly drowsy and more relaxed for your dental treatment. Inhalation sedation does not make you unconscious and you will remain awake but may feel warm and detached. What is Intravenous Sedation? Intravenous sedation also referred to as 'Twilight Sleep', is a sedative drug (Midazolam) which is given to you by injection into a vein in the back of your hand or in your arm through a cannula. The sedation makes you drowsy and helps reduce anxiety.
