Business profile
Food and art have always gone hand-in-hand. Both require creativity and originality to rise above the ordinary. So it seems only natural that David Kennedy chose to locate his restaurant inside the impressive Biscuit Factory - Britain's biggest commercial art gallery. David Kennedy's décor is contemporary and spacious, with enveloping luxury leather sofas, soft lighting, framed prints and sculptures. Light wooden floorings, a range of beautiful furnishings and warm colours create an intimate and comfortable feel. The menu at David Kennedy's is focused firmly on a philosophy of using the best and freshest local produce available. Head Chef Andrew Wilkinson - another previous North-East Chef of the Year says: "The new ethos is very simple - good honest food which has been locally sourced and beautifully presented. The restaurant retains all the elements which made Black Door so popular only we have added a new take on the Tapas style of cuisine and made it our own. The menu is changing almost every day so we can design our menus around what is available and fresh. The a la carte menu is well balanced yet unpretentious with locally reared meat and daily catches from North Shields Fish Quay at the backbone of our ever developing menus".
