The Bridge Fund Incorporated was founded in 1966 in the Lower Roxbury neighborhood of Boston and served as a pioneer in providing one of the city's first supplementary education programs to the struggling Boston Public School system. In recent years, significant changes to family needs and concerns with the fiscal management of the state's childcare voucher system, led the leadership of the organization to evaluate its mission and philosophy. DESCRIPTION OF NEED: Bridge is pleased to have developed what families consider one of the best quality Home Care Services in the Greater Boston area. To maintain this level of quality, it is imperative that we expand creatively, if we are to meet the increasing demands for the elder care services. Today, affordable home health care for the elderly and disabled is dependent on the large numbers of the industrious immigrant workers who now fill these positions. As home care positions are among the lowest wage jobs, have little to no job security and offer few benefits, while a decreasing number of US citizens are entering this field.
