The Starr first opened its doors in the 15th century as a coaching inn on the Suffolk to London route and since then has had many famous faces pass through its doors, including Jamie Oliver who honed his skills in our kitchen before going to Westminster catering college.In its coaching days travellers would stop overnight and any prisoner being transported to London would be kept in the holding cell that to this day is still in the cellar.In the courtyard, we have converted the old stable block into a comfortable eight room Hotel, all with en-suite bathrooms and free WIFI.The Starr is only 15 minutes' drive from Stansted airport making it the ideal place for that overnight stop or short break.Breakfast is served in the restaurant where you sit, surrounded by the exposed oak beams of the old Inn.At lunch time you can enjoy a full bar menu in front of an open fire or our lunch time restaurant menu.In the evening after a glass of wine from our extensive
