MacGregor Farms has now started producing black rock chickens from parent stock. Black rock chickens are produced from Black Plymouth Rock hens and Rhode Island Red variety of cockerels. There is a lot of websites and companies out there and certainly in parts of Scotland that will claim to have registered parent stock and will claim to have the only true registered Black Rock chickens, but please do not be fooled, Black Rock chickens are hybrids and are bred to produce a high number of eggs such as Hy-Line. Similar to the Hy-Line chicken, these birds are bred for there quality and quantity of eggs. Our parent stock are from show stock and therefore our parent stock are bred to be the best at shows and to produce top quality large brown eggs. At MacGregor Farms, we take pride in the care and dedication we put in to our chickens. Our chickens are bred and kept to soil association standards using organic feed.
