Poynton Egypt Group first opened its doors in 1993, after a group of residents of the town of Poynton, in Cheshire, decided to meet after reaching the end of a short course in Egyptology in a local evening centre We enjoy links with other local Egyptological societies and are always keen to hear from other groups, and welcome their members to visit our meetings Over the years, our members have heard a wide variety of lectures, given by many different speakers Although we don't organise trips to Egypt ourselves for members and others, groups of members within the society often arrange trips themselves to see sites mentioned in previous meetings
