For a truly unique and authentic camping experience, in secluded ancient woodland just metres from the shore of Coniston Water with everything this beautiful area of the Lakes has to offer. The campsite has been formed in a natural clearing on the fringe of the nationally important Dodgson Wood SSSI (Sites of Special Scientific Interest), therefore it is being managed with conservation and minimal impact in mind. To reinforce this no wood can be collected from the site, but if you want a campfire, wood is supplied by us, free of charge all you have to do is saw it up. Composting toilets are on site, and a strict recycling policy is used, there are no showers, laundrette or games room, but you are assured your only neighbours will be the woodland wildlife. We hope it will appeal to many different groups or extended families wanting a unique experience, to get back to traditional camping and be at one with nature.
