Cremona House was established at Perry Road by George Darbey in 1879. He was one of the best professional violin makers and restorers of his time. Cremona House is an historic and unique building and has been in continuous use as a violin shop since it first opened. Over a hundred years later and well into its second century it has become one of the leading violin, viola, cello retail and restoration establishments in the country.Under the direction of Richard Bristow since 1979 this ever-popular shop has developed an excellent reputation for quality craftsmanship and sensible prices.Trained as a violin maker and restorer at the Welsh School of Violin making, Richard Bristow has over the past twenty fiveyears gained an extensive knowledge of the violin trade, which enables him to present a large and varied stock of instruments and bows as well as a respected valuer of instruments.
