Goodness Gracious has a vast collection of Victorian/Edwardian photographs of villages in south-east Surrey most of which are taken from postcards of that era and, to the best of our endeavours, we have striven to ensure that none is in copyright. The 'piece de resistance' is the Walter Rose Collection of 800 glass-plate negatives which has some exquisite images of the people and places around Westcott, near Dorking, Walter's birthplace. He also took some splendid photographs in Conway, St.Mawes, Ventnor and Weymouth. Over the past 30 years the Betchworth Collection has grown to include over 800 images of people and scenes from that little Surrey village located between Reigate & Dorking many of which are depicted in the splendid book 'Betchworth within living memory' available directly from us.
