The achilles heel of many ETL tools is the ability to handle complex XML data structures eg. FpML Cross Currency Swaps, the Loco ETL has been designed to handle these with ease. Design goals: 1. Connectivity to a wide selection of technologies eg. Database, delimited and fixed format files, message queues and sockets. 7. Include a library of data Transformer classes which can easily be extended. 8. Browser based configuration client. To achieve these goals, Loco ETL is a multi-threaded Java application, this allows the architecture to be designed so that additional functionality can be added very easily. Handling XML format data can be a bit of a performance hit so Loco ETL has designed its own XML class library and parser, this design allows complex structures like FpML to be handled with ease. The Transformer library includes a wide selection of classes catering from simple tasks such as String manipulation and data lookups to more complex tasks such as creating XML structures from simple flat data.
