We group ethnicity into 8 categories; White British, Black Caribbean, Black African, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, and "Other" We group ethnic groups so that there are enough pupils of each group for meaningful statistics The dataset we use is the Annual Schools Census, formerly the Pupil Level Annual Schools Census Where a 'missing' group is reported, there is a group of students for whom we do not know their ethnicity for some reason
